Ambassador of Indonesia Iwan Suyudhie Amri on Tuesday said that his country would encourage its students to get them educated at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) that is a prestigious educational institution of the Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Mar, 2018 ):Ambassador of Indonesia Iwan Suyudhie Amri on Tuesday said that his country would encourage its students to get them educated at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) that is a prestigious educational institution of the Pakistan.

He was addressing as chief guest at the certificate-awarding ceremony of a group of students fromIndonesia on successful completion of one-month Arabic and English teaching course at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) here on Tuesday.

The Ambassador also eulogized the AIOU for promoting relations with his country in the education sector. The ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui who assured that the AIOU will always be on forefront in sharing its experience and expertise with the friendly countries in the MuslimWorld.

It was the first-batch of the Indonesian students who were provided basic knowledge of the two languages, English and Arabic. The teaching program was the part of the agreement reached between the AIOU and Darunnajah Islamic Institute, Jakarta in December, 2016.

The agreement paved the way for academic exchanges between the two countries, both at the level of students and the Faculty. The Ambassador said, the University that was named after Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal deserved high appreciation for its high standing in educational sector.

He paid rich tributes to Dr Iqbal, stating that the vision and message of this great poet had been a source of inspiration for the entire MuslimWorld. He also spoke about the growing relationship between the two Muslim brotherly countries.

About the teaching program, he said it would help to improve the excellent relations already existed between the two countries. This also contributes to promoting cross-culture exchanges, he added.

While, lauding the depth of their relations, Dr. Shahid Siddiqui in his address recalled the great moral support provided by the Indonesian leadership and the people during Pak-India war in 1965.

The AIOU, he added will welcome more students fromIndonesia to receive education in the areas of their interest. The teaching programme was arranged by the University's International Collaboration and Exchange office (ICEO), in coordination with the faculty of Arabic and Social Sciences.

The ceremony was also addressed by Dean Arabic and Islamic Studies, Dr. Shah Mohyddin Hashmi , Incharge ICEO Prof Zahid Majeed, Dr. Syed Hasan Raza and the University's additional Registrar Dr .Zaigham Qadeer. The programme's resource persons Farzana Ursani, Dr. Shahnaz Zaheer and other were awarded commendation certificates on the occasion.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Feb, 2018 ):The Search Committee constituted by prime minister for the selection of new Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) has agreed to form Terms of References (ToR's) and publish of an advertisement for the post.

According to the sources on Wednesday, the first meeting of search committee was held here at Ministry of Education, under the Chairmanship of Convener Babar Ali to discuss the appointment of new HEC chief.

The search committee has formed code of conducts for the merit based appointment of new Chairman while an advertisement in this regard would also be published in the current week.

The sources also shared the details of an advertisement in which the minimum compulsory qualification for the post of Chairman HEC would be Post Graduate.

While, sources added that around 20 years of experience in the field of higher education would also be compulsory. The candidates having PhD qualification would be given preference, sources added.

The members of civil society, Professionals and educationists, would be able to nominate any eligible person, the explained. According to the pattern of advertisement every candidate would have to write an essay consisting of at least two thousands worlds in which they will share their suggestions for promotion and development of higher education sector and abilities to run HEC.
